    Erickson Makes The Transition To coach

    Making the transition from runner to coach, Pamela Erickson will assist Western New Mexico University head cross country coach Macario Campos for the upcoming season.

    “Pam was a great athlete these past two years for us,” Campos said. “Her energy and enthusiasm for the sport is a great asset to our program.”

    Erickson was one of the top runners for the past two seasons. her best race came during the 2007 season in the Tom Strandt Memorial Run, held in Durango, Co. she came across the finish line seventh, in a time of 21 minutes, 12 seconds.

    Prior to coming to WNMU, Erickson was an All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference selection at Yavapai college, and an All-State runner her sophomore and senior years at Kingman High School in Arizona.

    She was also an All-Region honoree and the cross-country team’s Most Valuable Player all four years of high school. Erickson also received the school’s track MVP award all four years.

    Erickson will graduate in May 2009 with a bachelor of science degreee in kinesiology and a minor in sports medicine.
